The tensioner holds the line and releases it in one press, so the anchors at both ends keep their setting. Re-tension is one press back — nothing is re-threaded or re-measured.

A limb riser is only a line between two anchors. Without a tensioner in that run you would have to slacken it by hand at an anchor every time the hood opens, which is why this piece exists and why the roof kits already contain one.
